Echoing the TUBE.PHOTO.DASH exhibition organised by Théophile Calot at Casino Luxembourg, the bookshop is offering a new way of looking at the verticality and horizontality of photography.
By exploring the issues of orientation – horizontal in the book, vertical on the wall – and the different ways in which it can be shown, the exhibition encourages us to take a fresh look at how we read the image. While the book invites introspective, physical and more intimate contemplation when held in the hand, the exhibition offers a more distant, open and collective approach. Invoking sensoriality and experimentation, the book invites us to touch, whereas the exhibition suggests observation.
The guest artists – Christian Aschman, Julien Carreyn, Bertrand Cavalier, Wade Guyton, Pierre Hourquet, Aurélien Mole, Katja Stuke & Oliver Sieber, Batia Suter, Rebecca Topakian and Ruth Van Beek – explore the close dialogue between the exhibition space and the artist’s book.
The launch of the book Tube.Photo.Dash on Saturday 21 June at 6pm will complete this exploration of the plasticity of the image in contemporary photography.
